This trail running loop has it all: After a flat initial section along the valley floor of the Siglitz Valley, past the remnants of gold mining, a steep ascent follows that requires surefootedness and quickly gains elevation. Soon you’ll reach the Niedersachsenhaus. The trail continues along the ridge between the Gastein and Rauris valleys to the Kolmkarscharte and on to the Bockhartscharte. There, a short detour to the summit cross is recommended, offering one last view of Kolm Saigurn and the Sonnblick. The descent is gentler than the ascent: the trail winds through alpine meadows, passing the Upper and Lower Bockhart Lakes, before covering the final meters of elevation on a steep trail with a few steps, eventually reaching the Sportgastein parking lot again.Tip: Before the final descent, a refreshment stop at the Bockhartseehütte is highly recommended.
