Very varied trail running route with beautiful views of northwestern Switzerland as far as Basel, the Table Jura, the Chain Jura, in the direction of the Vosges and Black Forest, and to the Alpine chain. An intermediate goal is the Hinteri Egg, the highest peak in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. The hunter's path, as well as the route between Passwang and Hinteri Egg, have technically demanding sections.

    Safety information

On the sections of the hunter's path, special attention and caution are required, especially when wet. For your own safety, please use the mounted wire ropes, also on the crossing from Grauboden to the Vogelberg restaurant.

The descent from Vogelberg/Passwang down to the Rochus chapel also demands special attention.

    Tips and suggestions

At the mountain station of the Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen aerial cableway, there is an attractive recreational offer for children, youths, and their families: adventure playground, climbing garden with variations, picnic areas, scooter descent, and more. The gastronomic offerings in the various mountain restaurants are also recommended. We kindly ask you to use the signposted paths and trails along the entire trail running route and to respect the flora and fauna!

    Roadbook

Very varied running route called the "King's route": The route starts at the valley station of the Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen aerial cableway (LRW) initially back to Reigoldswil. At the first junction after the start at the valley station, follow the signs for Lauwil/Aengiberg/Passwang, also marked as a bike path: Dornach/Passwang. The route runs along the streambed to the junction Aengiberg/Passwang (turn left uphill here: choose this route and leave the bike path Chirsi-Route 111). After ascending through forest, the trail descends gently over the mountain meadow to the "scooter track" (connection between valley station LRW and mountain station LRW). On the "scooter track" the trail leads to the next junction (coming from Laufrichtung: path on the right uphill, marked with hunter's path ("Jägerwägli"). On the steep ascent over the "Jägerwägli" (caution!) the runner passes the waterfall and climbs over the partly wire-rope secured rocky path up to a wider path. The signposts at this junction contain no destinations but are marked with hiking symbols in both directions. Here the direction to the right uphill must be chosen. On this section, the Hof Bürten is reached. In front of the farmstead, the hiking trail/trail running route branches off to Grauboden. At the Grauboden junction, follow the hiking signpost to Vogelberg, uphill over the mountain pasture to a pass-like crossing (caution on the wire-rope secured descent!) to the Vogelberg mountain restaurant. From this starting point, the trail first leads onto the Vogelberg/Passwang ridge with the signpost Passwang 1168 m, then down on a technically very demanding surface (caution!) to the Rochus chapel. From there, steeply up to the Chellenchöpfli (canton Solothurn) and northwards opposite to the Hinteri Egg, at 1168 m the highest mountain in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. Magnificent views of the Alpine chain and over the heights of the Table Jura to the peaks of the Black Forest accompany runners along the forest edge, gently downhill in a left-hand loop to the Waldweide signpost. Then, the attractive (hence the name "King's route") trail running route continues "lightly" on a direct path to the destination at the Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen aerial cableway mountain station. The trail running experience can now be completed with the deserved beautiful descent in the Goldel back to the starting point. Those who wish can of course extend the run down to the LRW valley station.
