Challenging "summit route" to the top of the Basel region, Hinteri Egg.  The ascent takes place along the entire length of the Jägerweg and demands considerable endurance and stepping ability from the runner. The view along the way is very impressive, especially on the path from Passwang to Hinteri Weg, in all directions. Along the way, we encounter the tunnel opening, which was once intended to provide a pedestrian connection between Mümliswil (Canton Solothurn) and Reigoldswil, but was never realized. The goal of the running route is the mountain station of the Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen cable car (LRW). The gondola descent provides a wonderful conclusion - simply to enjoy!

    Author’s recommendation

Take advantage of the LRW special offer: transport of the tagged backpack/clothing bag with the LRW to the mountain station, storage until the arrival of the runner, changing facilities at the mountain station, descent with LRW: all included for the price of 13 CHF.

Take enough time to fully enjoy the magnificent view northwards (Tafeljura/Black Forest/Vosges) and southwards to the Alps!

    Safety information

Along the entire length of the Jägerweg, great attention and caution is required, especially when wet.

    Tips and suggestions

At the mountain station of the Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen cable car there is an attractive leisure offer for children, young people and their families: adventure playground, climbing garden with variants, picnic areas, scooter descent and more. The gastronomic offer in the various mountain restaurants is also recommended.

Please use the marked paths and trails along the entire trail running route and show consideration for flora and fauna.

    Roadbook

Start at the LRW valley station (= Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen cable car) and continue towards the LRW mountain station on the "Trottinette route": the stream on the left, the cable car gondolas on the right,  up to the junction (hiking signpost) Schelmenloch, Wasserfallen, Jägerweg ("Jägerwägli"). Then follows the very demanding ascent on the Jägerweg along the beautiful, terraced mountain stream, past a magnificent waterfall, up a prominent and partly wire-rope-secured rocky path to the junction with a wider path, which slopes down to the left and up to the right, both directions marked with the hiking sign but without destinations. Here, choose the direction left downwards.  On the slightly descending path, on the right side (direction of travel), immediately after the stream, the next junction marked with the hiking sign and no destination leading right up to the LRW mountain station is visible. After the short ascent, the LRW mountain station is reached. From the mountain station, the trail running route leads along the little road to the mountain inn "Hintere Wasserfallen". From there (observe the Chellenchöpfli sign), the hiking trail (trail running route) ascends to the Rochus Chapel, located on the mountain ridge Chellenchöpfli - Vogelberg/Passwang.  The trail follows the Chellenchöpfli signposts to the summit (Canton Solothurn). Directly opposite (northwards) lies the highest point of the Canton Basel-Landschaft, the Hinteri Egg. From there, the run follows the forest edge - with a magnificent view of the eastern Jura chain and the Alpine chain - to the hiking signpost at the Waldweide location.  The last trail section, from Waldweide, (really to enjoy!), ends at the destination, the LRW mountain station with the "Heidistübli" and includes the invitation to complete the trail with the well-deserved, beautiful descent in the LRW gondola. Of course, it is also possible to extend the running route individually by returning on the "Trottinette route" or another route down to the LRW valley station.
