Start at the parking lot of Chapel Hinterwinkl, follow the forest road towards Pechauer Scharte. Once reaching the saddle, turn left and follow the forest road along the south side of Gurlspitze until after just under 3 km the direct, relatively steep hiking trail to the Gurlspitze begins. At the summit, descend almost entirely along the forest road on the north slope.
