Die erste Gletscheretappe aller zwölf Austragungen des GORE-TEX® TRANSALPINE-RUN führt vom Pitztal ins Ötztal. Zwar ist sie „nur“ 27,3 km lang, dafür liegt die Gipfelhöhe auf über 3000 Meter Höhe und die Trails berühren das ewige Eis des Rettenbachferners. James Bond lässt grüßen: Der spektakuläre Zieleinlauf in Sölden erfolgt - eine weitere Premiere beim GORE-TEX® TRANSALPINE-RUN - nicht im Tal in Sölden, sondern auf 2176 m an der Mittelstation der Gaislachkogelbahn. Dort spielen im Gipfelrestaurant „ice Q“ einige Szenen des aktuellen James Bond „Spectre“.
