An extraordinary route where you encounter very few people during the week.

The view leaves nothing to be desired in all directions.

    Author’s recommendation

Early start of course but also a longer break at the Hohenemser Hütte to recharge the batteries.

    Safety information

The weather can change quickly on such a long route. Prepare accordingly and keep an eye on it.

Water supply at huts is not always possible as they may be closed due to the season.

    Roadbook

From the parking lot, head downstream in the valley to the Karrenseilbahn cable car. Then follow the directions towards Steinbach, Schwendebach, Schwende Alpe, Hochälpele.

Continue from Hochälpele to Weissfluhalpe and then from there to Obersehalpe. From there, go to the First and over the ridge to Mörzelspitze.

Upon reaching Mörzelspitze, continue to Salzböden and towards Freschen. At the junction after Binnelalpe, descend towards Ebnit. As soon as you leave the forest, turn left to reach Obersturmalpe below Freschen and then cross the stream. There are no signposts here but a good path that leads to Valorsalpe. The stream is crossed at the lower end of the meadow. Continue straight and not left towards Freschen or right to Ebnit. Upon reaching Hörnle, you can already see Hohe Kugel and then head in the direction of Hohenemser Hütte.

Further signposts then describe the way to Karren, which passes the Schöne Mann Hütte and Hinterbergalpe and leads to the valley station. From the Hohenemser Hütte, no further summits are climbed on this route.
