Tips and suggestions
The round can also be started directly at Windischhütte or in Weidling at the end of Reichergasse. In both cases, parking is available.Roadbook
We follow the blue marking uphill towards the cemetery. Here we leave the paved road for a short distance; the marking leads us to the left onto a narrow forest path. Unfortunately, the marking then leads back to the road, and we walk steeply uphill along it until it turns into a forest road.
A nice forest path continues steadily uphill, always marked in blue, until we finally emerge from the forest at the Hohenauer meadow.
At the Steinböckhütte shelter, we keep right and take the forest road with the blue/yellow marking towards Windischhütte. Along this, we pass the Red Cross and the Eichenhain rest area until we arrive at Windischhütte after the next steeper climb.
We switch to the green marking towards Rotgraben, Weidling and are happy that it now gently leads downhill. The path goes sometimes left, sometimes right, but is always well signposted.
Shortly before reaching the road in Weidling, we turn left onto a forest path and follow it, now uphill again, until we reach the Adolf-Robl-Weg. Here we turn right. It then continues fairly level to the Haschhof experimental farm with the first Austrian fruit teaching path.
We still enjoy the views of Hermannskogel, Kahlenberg, and Klosterneuburg here and then follow the yellow marking downhill back to Kierling. This follows the road for a short stretch before the path leads in a curve into a meadow and forest. We cross the slope until we reach a forest road that then leads into a steep road that brings us directly back to the church.
