Route of the shorter 100 km distance of the Chiemgauer100, whose start, finish, and intermediate stop have been located in Bergen since 2021.
The first loop, which offers great views of the Chiemsee and the foothills from always new perspectives, leads over the Pattenberg, Engelstein, and Staudach up to the Schnappenkircherl. You return to Bergen via the Staudacher, Bracht, and Vorderalm. The second loop runs over the Hochfelln summit, down into the Eschelmoos and from there over the Bischofsfellnalm, Jochbergsattel, and Rechenbergalmen back down into the Röthelmoos. Via a steep ascent, you climb the Hörndl and run back to Maria Eck via the Unternberg and Egg before completing a flat loop through Bergen to the finish at the TSV sports field.
The Chiemgauer100 mountain ultra is a 100 km / 100 mile natural trail adventure run on partly narrow alpine hiking and forest paths. It is limited to 150 participants for nature conservation reasons. The sometimes technically challenging ascents and descents each total 4800 m / 7500 m. The time limit of 18 h / 33 h is considered demanding. Six / nine refreshment stations and several control and water points are distributed along the route.
The running route, accessible by car only in a few places, connects the most beautiful trails of the region. By omitting the second summit with the Hörndl, the run can be shortened by about 10 km and 1000 m elevation gain.
The internationally attended race is one of the classics of the European trail ultra scene and has been held unchanged since 2005, starting from Ruhpolding.
Since 2021, the base camp with start, finish, and intermediate stop has been located between the two loops of the race in Bergen.

Tips and suggestions
Chiemgauer100Public transport
Bergen station (Upper Bavaria) lies on the Munich – Salzburg railway line and is served hourly by Meridian / Bayerische Regiobahn.
For longer-distance travel, arrival at Traunstein by IC / EC may also be more practical.
An apparent disadvantage of this connection is that Bergen station is 2 km from the town center (and 3 km from the start point at the sports field and the Hochfelln cable car). However, this distance can also be easily bridged:
The regional bus line 9514 (Traunstein (station) – Hochfelln cable car Bergen) is coordinated with the arrival times at Bergen station and runs hourly during weekdays and on Saturday mornings. Link to timetable – enter line 9514 here.
Directions
Travel by train and bus is preferred. Otherwise, Bergen is easily accessible by car via the A8 motorway.Coordinates
