Hallenberg - Pastorenwiese /
Circular route with impressive views and historical places
A prominent feature of the route is the many wide views into the Sauerland and Wittgenstein mountain ranges and beyond. The observation tower on the Ziegenhelle at 816 m above sea level offers a 360° panoramic view. The unobstructed views are the result of bark beetle infestation and storms, which many spruces could not withstand. In addition to the impressive views, the route also passes several historical sites (Gaulskopf, Hubertus Chapel, forester's houses, legendary monastery) and several particularly protected landscape components such as moors, gorges, and old beech forests. The Wallershöhe, located at 812 m high, is another “800-meter” part of the route. There is a signposted junction there to the highest point of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district.

Roadbook
The path begins behind the ski hut and initially runs fairly flat through a beech forest. After a first ascent, the view opens up to the Wittgenstein mountain world.
You then reach the point where the loop almost meets and continue towards the “Weifequelle”, from where you have a nice view towards Hallenberg.
The path then sharply turns left past the small Hubertus Chapel along a natural trail towards Radenstein (forestry house). From here, the tower on the Ziegenhelle is already visible. It continues above the deeply incised valley of the streams and uphill on the left towards Ziegenhelle. Looking back, you have a magnificent view of Bollerberg (with tower) near Hesborn. After another ascent, you arrive at the Ziegenhelle at 816 m above sea level. From the observation tower, you can enjoy the 360° panoramic view of the Sauerland, Wittgenstein, and Hessian mountain landscapes. The path continues fairly flat. After passing the Wallershöhe, the next elevation above 800 m can be reached, where another impressive wide view opens again. It goes quite steeply downhill to the “Süßen Plätzchen” to then immediately turn right again. Through a nature reserve with several raised bogs, the path leads back to the paved road towards Pastorenwiese.
