Weyarn Cultural Path
Culture is not just about art treasures, but also landscape and the structures that have grown within it.
And so on the Weyarn cultural path we encounter themes and objects from the fields of architecture, church, history, education, art, nature, and gastronomy.
Let yourself be guided, immerse yourself in art, culture, and nature.
The term "Weyarn Cultural Path" is familiar to many people in the municipality of Weyarn as well as the tourism organizations in the district. For Expo 2000 in Hannover, where Weyarn was allowed to participate as part of the project "Village 2000 – Examples of sustainable rural development", the first version of the cultural path was developed by the then working group "Culture".
The Weyarn cultural path is well suited for walkers, despite two short steep sections, such as the narrow footpath from the monastery down to the ponds and the wider gravel path down to the Mangfall footbridge. The forest path from "Brünnerl" to this gravel path is quite narrow and requires concentration as the terrain slopes steeply down to the Mangfall valley. Currently (as of October 2022), the footbridge is unfortunately closed. When access to the waterway and the last station at this point will be open again is unfortunately unclear.
The working group "Town Design and Transport" wishes all cultural path walkers new insights and lots of fun.
Author’s recommendation
The Weyarn monastery café is worth a visit during or after the route for excellent homemade cakes.

Roadbook
From Mitterdarching station (Station 1), we cross the deeply incised Mangfall valley via the gallery located under the motorway bridge (Station 2), soon reaching the other side of the Mangfall and following the cycle and footpath past the climbing hall and on to the residential area "Klosteranger" (Station 3). Passing through the car-free residential complex, we encounter individual boulders (Station 4) and finally reach the monastery with its convent (Station 5). Past the gate hall "Richterstock" (Station 6), we pass the former monastery brewery and the northern gatehouse (Station 7). Past the combined heat and power plant, we cross the state road and ascend some steps to the viewpoint with the spiral sculpture by local artist Tobel (Station 8). From the viewpoint, after descending the stairs, we keep left and arrive at the "Alten Wirt", a traditional tavern (Station 9); from nearby Ignaz-Günther-Straße we reach the southern town hall square (Station 10) and other monastery buildings. Past the monastery church (Station 11) and the associated cemetery (Station 12), the route goes through an archway and the monastery gardens (Stations 13 and 14) towards the Mangfall valley. The view reaches as far as Fentberg and Taubenberg in the west; a small path leads downward southwards past a sculpture by artist Ursula-Maren Fitz (Station 15) and past the village ponds (Station 16). At the western edge of the pond, we pass the old dye works (Station 17) and further south a small spring catchment (Station 18). The onward route leads along the Mangfall high bank to the Mangfall footbridge (Station 19) built in 1910. Crossing the Mangfall here, the path continues to the final station, the sculpture "Tears of the Earth" by the sculptor Jakob Schwalbach. Next to a sundial on the ground is also a spring where you can quench your thirst with the best spring water. The return route follows the path back to Weyarn or to Darching station.
