The Weinfelden Wine Route leads as a circular hike through the vineyard landscape on the Ottenberg and around the charming villages of Weinfelden, Ottoberg, and Boltshausen.
The town of Weinfelden already carries wine in its name. The municipal coat of arms shows a green, three-leafed vine branch adorned with three blue grapes. It is no wonder, then, that a wine hiking route leads through the surrounding vineyard landscape. This route is designed as a circular hike and conveniently starts (and ends) at the train station. From there, simply follow the corresponding signposts. Along the way through the Ottenberg, hikers learn a lot of interesting facts about wine and vines at many information boards, pass several wineries, and enjoy views over the Thur valley and, in clear weather, all the way to the Alps. Also worth seeing are several art installations and the villages of Weinfelden, Boltshausen, and the lovingly groomed Ottoberg.
