An easy walking route starting in the Hrabovo area with very good accommodation and dining options, ideal for families with children. Here you will find the boarding station of the cable car to Malinô Brdo, the Tarzánia rope park, as well as a water reservoir with the option of boating. The route leads us to the jewel of the entire region, the UNESCO protected area – the mountain hamlet Vlkolínec (720 m a.s.l.). The route from Hrabovo, via Calvary, Vlkolínské meadows to Vlkolínec (720 m a.s.l.) takes about 1.5 hours. You can make the pleasant walk easier by taking the cable car, which will save you an hour of travel.
Roadbook
The route starts at the parking lot by the lower station of the cable car on the yellow trail, which leads towards the local Calvary and then continues on the blue trail to the well-known Vlkolínské meadows, offering views of majestic rock formations and surrounding mountain ranges. A slight ascent to the Pod Sidorov crossroads and the following descent will lead you directly to the center of Vlkolínec. You can return by the same route, but it is more recommended on the way back to turn left from Vlkolínské meadows along the red trail uphill to the Malinô Brdo resort. From there down to the starting point – the parking lot by the lower station – you can take the ski slope route or use the cabin cable car from Malinô Brdo to Hrabovo. You can of course also use the cable car in the opposite direction right at the start of the route.
Public transport
Public transport line no. 5 runs to Hrabovo from the bus / train station and the Rybárpole train station in Ružomberok. The line's stop is located directly at the main parking lot where the starting point of the route is also located.
