Time Trail

Experience the phenomenon of time on your hike from Kandern to Egerten and refresh your basic knowledge of Earth's history in an entertaining way. The Time Trail represents the five billion years of our Earth's evolutionary history over a distance of five kilometers. One meter thus corresponds to one million years, one millimeter corresponds to 1,000 years. For better clarity, these five billion years are converted into a single year.

Your path begins at the Town Hall in Kandern with the monolithic sundial and the time stone and leads you past the August Macke School along the Weisserdenweg, the Eichenweg, and the Kandern Way to the forest parking lot at Egerten. Along the way, you will encounter twelve panels with all sorts of interesting facts about the past and future of our Earth.
