Real “Magic Mountain” feeling is conveyed by the Waldhotel Davos and the mountain hotel Schatzalp – and on the Thomas Mann Path, which is provided with quotes, one is very close to the locations of the novel. On the path, the novel's heroes Hans Castorp and Joachim Ziemssen also enjoyed “the pure early air, this fresh and light atmosphere.” With “The Magic Mountain” in hand, the path is hard to miss: "The path they took led them gently uphill to the left past the back of the sanatorium, ran a good distance further in the same direction, then described a sharp bend, and led steeper to the right up the thinly wooded slope."
