The Seitenahveninen trail loops around a crystal-clear, swampy, and pine forest-surrounded forest pond and partly passes along boardwalks. The path is close to the municipal center and is easily accessible. From Seitenahveninen, a connecting trail departs to Soiva Forest, which is located in the beautiful heath terrain of Kaunisniemi.

The environment around Soiva Forest features small ponds and deep kettle holes. From the ridge at Kaunisniemi, there are incredible views over Lake Hietajärvi. Soiva Forest is a unique collection of large instruments built into the forest, which you can also play yourself. Over the years, compositions, improvisations, and dramatic performances have been presented in Soiva Forest, blending Kainuu nature and culture in an original way.

    Roadbook

After the Soiva Forest guidance sign, the route turns left and climbs to the top of the Kaunisniemi ridge. On the ridge, numerous trails intersect around different instruments, and you are free to explore the various instruments both on top of and at the foot of the ridge. After the rain pipe instrument, the route turns right away from the shore of Lake Hietajärvi. After about 300 meters, the path forks near the swing instruments back towards the starting point. You can also take a route about a kilometer longer on the ridge by continuing straight from the intersection and turning back towards the starting point after about 500 meters.
