Schönegger Educational Circular Route
The apple trees – old regional and almost forgotten varieties like "Roter Erpftinger", "Himbsels Rambur" or the "Kesseltaler Streifling" – are still young on our new circular route and have to grow into large, gnarled trees first.
But they already guide you through the meadows south of the Schönegger Cheese Alm, where cattle of the old Upper Bavarian breed Murnau-Werdenfelser graze, to a generously designed wildlife enclosure. There, native red deer and mouflon can be observed up close and you can enjoy the view of the charming landscape. Integrated into the circular route is also a bee house, where an entire colony can be seen through a glass pane in their important work. The 1.5 km long route is rounded off by numerous informative display panels that provide exciting insights into the world of bees and wild animals.
"We have realized this circular route as part of our sustainability project and want to make our commitment to the environment more visible," explains company chief Sepp Krönauer the reasons for establishing the educational trails. "Hay milk farmers and processors like us maintain a centuries-old craft, protect the environment and climate with traditional hay farming, and promote biodiversity. It is our desire and a great concern to contribute to keeping the earth livable for our descendants."
The circular route starts towards Echelsbacher Bridge and ends at the parking lot in front of the Schönegger Cheese Alm. We wish you lots of fun exploring our educational trail.
