Salmon Experience Trail Murgtal - Section Rastatt, large round
Salmon in the Murg? Oh yes! They were gone for a long time. But as water quality and aquatic habitats improve, they are coming back! Learn more on the Salmon Experience Trail.
In Rastatt, you can take a long or short round trip. You start at Infolachs at the Badener Bridge, which gives you an overview and lets you fly over the lower Murg via QR code. You dive into the history of salmon fishing and follow the salmon on their long journey to the sea and back. Can you recognize the fish by their colorful patterns on the game board at the children's playground? At the Badener Hall, you learn how the straightened Murg is transforming back into a more diverse riverbed and creating valuable habitats for fish. Beyond the Franz bridge, you look into the future of the river in times of climate change and get to know the “unknown creature” fish. You meet the Margrave with his salmon traps and some curious regulations that precisely governed fishing, especially salmon fishing. At the Murg dam, you learn about the fish species of the estuary and their favorite places in the river.
See you soon at the Murg!
