Discover the traces of the Romans on the approx. 8 km circular route - a perfect combination with a visit to the RömerWelt.
Hiking is one of the most popular leisure activities, and visitors of the RömerWelt from near and far like to take the opportunity to combine the museum visit with a circular hike on the RömerWeltWeg and explore the Limes.
The trail is a total of 8.4 km long and starts at the parking lot of the RömerWelt. Along the way, you reach interesting spots with reconstructions as well as original finds related to the Limes. Among other things, you will find reconstructions of palisades, ramparts and ditches, an excavation site of the Roman Limes and a forest school that is perfect for a break (self-catering only).
The highlight, located just a stone's throw from the circular route, is the walkable wooden tower reconstruction of watchtower 1/9 with a magnificent view over the surrounding landscape stretching into the Eifel. This is also reflected in the excellent rating on the hiking portal “wanderkompass.de”.
So discover the region and the traces of the Romans... climb the watchtower just as the Roman soldiers did long ago. But with one difference: you have leisure and time to enjoy the splendid view.
After having hiked a - albeit very small - part of the Limes, you can take a break: either with a refreshing drink, ice cream, or delicious coffee and Limes cake at the RömerWelt. Alternatively, you can visit one of the nearby restaurants in the village.

The route starts at the interactive museum RömerWelt and runs to a forest school on the marked Westerwaldsteig or Limes hiking trail. In a hollow path, beginning marked with palisades, it initially goes quite steeply uphill for about 1.5 km.
At Gut Dielsberg, we soon reach the forest school. Here are the remains of the Limes watch post 1/8. After 500 m uphill, we enjoy the wonderful view into the Rhine valley and the Eifel from the walkable Roman tower 1/9.
Returning along the path, we turn left at the forest school towards the south into the valley of the “Nassenbach”, then after about 200 m on Kreisstraße 1 in the area of the shelter – walking westward – we reach Hartmannshof, the highest point of the hike.
Past Haus Forst, we reach after about 1 km the Peace Cross, erected in gratitude for the peace in our homeland in 1987. A group of benches with views of the Rhine valley and across to the Eifel invites you to linger. Continuing steadily downhill, we pass by Lampenthalerhof.
After a short section on K 1, the trail leads northwest along the “Nassenbach” with the fish ponds and later over Arienheller, then following the “Bahlsbach”, back to the starting point at the RömerWelt.
