For centuries, copper, iron, as well as gold, silver, and mercury ores were mined in Rožňava. The author designed the educational trail to show tourists as many mining works and traces of mining activity as possible. The educational route is currently one-way, runs along the southern side of the Rákoš hill (800 m), and forms a complete loop about 10 km long with 5 informational panels. At the most important mining works, plates with the name of the work are installed.

You can reach the educational trail from the Rožňava bus station in about 25 minutes along the yellow tourist sign (TZT), which leads from Rožňava to Krásna Hôrka castle. The trail starts (ends) at the same point on the yellow mark at Podrákoš. Here, on the edge of the forest above the Slovnaft filling station, there is an introductory panel with information about the educational trail.
