Prosiecka and Kvačianska Valley Nature Trail
The circular route begins at the paid car park at the end of the village of Prosiek and continues through the Prosiecka Valley. Its rocky terrain requires the use of hiking aids in some sections. The valley is characterised by impressive rock formations connected by steel ladders. During the ascent, you will come across the Červené piesky waterfall.
The route then continues towards the Svorad karst plateau, where you will reach the highest point of the entire hike. Afterwards, the trail leads through easy terrain to the village of Veľké Borové, where you can stop for refreshments at the local inn near the cemetery.
From there, the route descends through the Borovianka gorge and follows the blue trail to the unique Oblazy water mills. These 19th-century technical monuments are maintained by dedicated volunteers. Oblazy are among the most beautiful and, deservedly, most visited attractions in the entire Liptov region. The area is also particularly appealing to families with children thanks to the large meadow, the stream with a small dam and the local domestic animals.
The return route through the Kvačianska Valley is relatively easy. The trail follows a wide path above the gorge. One of the highlights of the hike is a visit to the viewing tower built on a rocky cliff, offering stunning views of the valley and the surrounding mountains.
From there, it is only a short distance to the village of Kvačany. If you use public bus transport, the hike can end at the local bus stop in less than five hours. However, if your car is parked in Prosiek, you will need to continue for approximately another hour and a half along the trail beneath the mountain to return to the car park in Prosiek.
