Planet Trail

On your way from Egerten to Kandern, you will walk through a scale model of our solar system (1:1 billion). According to this scale, one millimeter in nature corresponds to 1000 kilometers in space. With each step, at a stride length of 70 centimeters, you cover a distance of 700,000 kilometers. This approximately corresponds to the distance to our moon and back once. Your walking speed corresponds to at least three times the speed of light.

Your hike begins at the forest parking lot in Egerten and ends at the forester's house (Hauptstraße 39) in Kandern. Signs with current information and fascinating original photos of our solar system accompany you along the way. In the asteroid belt, near the dwarf planet Ceres, you will also encounter the little prince and princess Vestonia, the mascot of the Planet Trail.
