The Moor Path leads from the Bad Gögging spa center past natural wetland areas and idyllic groves into a moorish nature reserve with wide meadows. With a bit of luck and a lot of quiet, you might be able to observe a white stork searching for food here.

Along the path are also the moor processing plant and the moor deposit of the spa town, which is known for the triad of its remedies: natural moor, sulfur, and thermal water.

    Author’s recommendation

Especially in winter, you should try a moor treatment in the Limes Therme yourself after this walk.

    Tips and suggestions

More information about the spa town Bad Gögging and the health application of natural moor can be found on the website.

    Roadbook

From the new spa center Bad Gögging (directly at the parking garage), the Moor Path leads along Heiligenstädter Straße toward Heiligenstadt. At the Bad Gögging town sign, turn right into a small lane that opens up a view to the left of near-natural wet meadows with extensive reed areas. With some luck and much quiet, you can observe the white stork here while it searches for food.

It goes via gravel paths into a moorish nature reserve with wide meadows, lush green rows of trees, and enchanted groves.

To the right lies the golf course, accompanying you up to the flood dam.

Shortly before crossing a small bridge and turning right, you reach the local moor processing plant. Here the Bad Gögging moor is sieved and processed. Through a pipeline, the treatment-ready moor then goes directly into the moor tubs of the Limes Therme.

From here, you continue along the "ABC tree row" – an avenue of trees from A to Z: from maple through buckthorn to cedar.

From here you have a good view of the moor deposit of the Limes Therme and can see the moor extraction area.

At the end of the dam, you reach Neustädter Straße, where the Moor Path leads you back into town. At the intersection with Heiligenstädter Straße, turn right and follow it along the sidewalk. Passing a small pine forest, you return to your starting point at the spa center.
