Those who hike through the winding «Chräch» of the Napf region in summer may catch the smoky scents in their noses. These are the smoke signals of the Romoos charcoal piles, which are operated in the forests of the Entlebuch municipality. The old charcoal burner craft has flared up again here in recent years. The area around the Entlebuch Romoos is thus charcoal burner land. Although the woody-smoky craft has become rare in Switzerland, it can still be (re)discovered on a themed hike between Bramboden and Romoos. A must for everyone who likes to let the warm scent of smoking charcoal piles blow through their nose. The themed route, equipped with information boards, can of course be walked in both directions. The fact that working with wood and coal is not a young craft is shown by an exhibition in the attic of the Romoos fire brigade building.
