Through light mixed forest to Karlsplatz and to
idyllic viewpoints
Klingenmünster was the state winner in 2014 in the competition “Our Village has a Future” and recipient of the 1st Demography Prize of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The castles Landeck, Schlössel, and Heidenschuh, the monastery in the town center, the Nikolaus Chapel and the Martin Tower are pearls on the Southern Wine Route and cultural-historical treasures of supraregional importance. On discovery tours, they tell exciting stories. The hiking trails Burgen-, Karlsplatz-, Panorama- and Quellenweg open up a charming landscape with a southern flair.
Klingenmünster is a stage destination of supraregional hiking trails, e.g. Pfälzer Weinsteig, Mandelpfad and Keschdeweg, as well as the literary August-Becker hiking trail. They lead through lush vegetation, vineyards and chestnut forests with many views and resting places. Culinary delights and fine wines are part of Klingenmünster hospitality.

In general:
Especially in autumn, it should be noted that the fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rains, trees can still fall or branches can drop afterwards. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Sure-footedness is required in some places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you believe certain path sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting groups on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you encounter an unexpected path closure or detour, please heed the instructions for your own safety.
Roadbook
The Karlsplatz Path opens up the southern ridge along the Klingbach valley with Hatzelberg, Hohe Tanne and Abtskopf with its idyllic views. At the legendary Karlsplatz, where eight paths meet, a festive celebration takes place twice a year. Here the Palatinate Forest Association annually organizes its popular festivals – on May 1st and the Federweißer Festival in autumn.
Along the gently ascending path, the “Landeckblick” invites you to the first rest. The view from Hohe Tanne is even more impressive, overlooking Silz with lake, Münchweiler, the Hundsfelsen, and reaching to Landeck at the valley exit. From Abtskopf, one can see far into the southwestern mountain region. On the descent, you look down to Blankenborn and at the end of the loop lie Gleiszellen and the Rhine plain at your feet.

Equipment
For our hiking routes, we recommend the following equipment as standard:
Sturdy footwear
Weather-appropriate clothing
Sun and rain protection
Sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not inns or shopping opportunities everywhere or they may be closed.
Even though the paths are very well marked throughout, it is advisable for safety reasons to always carry a suitable hiking map so that you can quickly find a safe area, for example in the event of a thunderstorm or emergency.
