The “Isel Nature Trail” is a themed route that provides information about the water and power supply and the botanical and geological diversity of the Arosa region.
The path through the Iselwald in the early morning is almost meditative. It is still cool, light mist rises, countless dewdrops glisten in the first light on grasses and plants. In the forest it's quiet. Only the brook next to it quietly gurgles along. We walk on the “Isel Nature Trail,” a themed route that provides information about the water and power supply and the botanical and geological diversity of the region. For example, it covers the Welschtobelbach, which flows here in a wide, branched river system. During every flood, channels fill and new river arms are created. You also learn something about the stone pine-larch forest and when and where the lady's slipper orchid blooms. This orchid species prefers light forests and calcareous soils and can therefore be discovered on the Isel, mostly in July, by attentive walkers.
