The Ibex High Route at Lac des Dix is a themed circular mountain hiking route. It is also suitable for families. Along the way, you can take a longer break at the Cabane de Prafleuri.
The 285-meter-high Grand Dixence dam impounds Lac des Dix for power generation. The "Sentier des Bouquetins" also starts at Lac des Dix. The Ibex High Route, a four-hour circular hike, demands a lot from families with children but also offers many experiences: information stations about flora and fauna, rocks to climb, a mountain hut, and a pass crossing at the 3000-meter boundary. A blue ibex on the signpost points the way: through the Prafleuri Valley and up to the Cabane de Prafleuri. There are still just under 150 meters of ascent from the Prafleuri hut to the Col des Roux, the highest point of the circular hike. We are now in the realm of the ibexes. The elegant climbing artists are not always visible; then one marvels at the wonders along the way. At this altitude the growing season is relatively short, yet plants grow here with strange names: globe-shaped bellflower, stemless sticky catchfly, and cobweb houseleek.
