This marked themed circular trail leads from Maienfeld to the Heidi village in Ober Rofels and back to the starting point via the Heidibrunnen.
Johanna Spyri's «Heidi» is the quintessential Swiss children's book classic. The author enjoyed spending her holidays in the Bündner Herrschaft and was inspired here to write the novel that has captured the hearts of young and old readers worldwide. On the family-friendly Heidiweg, we hike in the footsteps of Heidi, Peter, and the Alp-Öhi. The trail begins at the train station, passes Maienfeld Castle, and then runs along the vineyards via Unter Rofels to Ober Rofels – known to tourists as the «Heididorf». For children, there is so much to see: the Heidi house, the village school, the town hall barn, and Heidi’s alpine hut where she spent summers with her grandfather. Afterwards, the path continues to the stone Heidibrunnen by the road to St. Luzisteig and from there through the forest and vineyards back down to Maienfeld, where we can stroll through the alleys of the historic town.
