The castles and rock route in the Southwest Palatinate region is a spectacular hiking experience. On narrow paths, through forests and meadows, one encounters bizarrely shaped Buntsandstein rocks, imposing castles, and varied natural scenery. The route can be divided into three day stages and offers plenty of discoveries for children, young people, and adults: Schlüsselfels, Wegelnburg, Hohenburg, Löwenstein, Fleckenstein, Frönsburg, Gypsy rock, Wasigenstein, Arnsburg, Bavarian Windstein, peace cross and Blumenstein. Path sections alternate with forest and meadow roads, steep climbs and climbing spots challenge endurance, while views and historical ruins invite repeated breaks and photo stops. A circular hiking trail full of adventure, legends, and opportunities for discovery that delights nature lovers and families alike and inspires a desire to return.
