Now I wanted to see them with my own eyes: the famous narcissus fields at Lake Geneva. Every year in May and June, wild narcissi turn the meadows above Montreux and Vevey into a white sea of flowers. From afar, it looks as if it had freshly snowed. Locals therefore also speak of «La Neige de Mai», the «May snow». However, to admire the blooming fields, you have to walk a few steps. Several hikes lead to the fields, one of them near Les Avants. The journey there is particularly beautiful: We travel with the Goldenpass line from Montreux to Les Avants and from there with the nostalgic funicular up to Sonloup. At the mountain station, we already see the first signposts: «Chemin des Narcisses». They first lead us through the forest to the viewpoint Le Cubly belvédère.
