Tourist-Information Bestwig - Ferienregion Hennesee
Within the boundaries of the old mining town of Eversberg are beautiful chapels, image pillars, and wayside crosses. They bear witness to former popular piety and the trust in God of that time.
Many of these distinctive small buildings arose from vows of gratitude, as the local population had experienced God's support and help during times of illness, epidemics, and hardship.
In today's hectic and short-lived times, these chapels and crosses invite you to pause, reflect, meditate, and pray.
Those who complete the Eversberg chapel route can collect a confirmation stamp at each station, which they can exchange for a small souvenir in the church at the end. The route can also be walked in stages.
On the side, the old mining town can be discovered on this round with all its facets and shows its little treasures, such as the historic town center, the local history museum, the Way of the Cross around the Burghagen, or the castle ruins on the Schlossberg.
A detour to the castle ruins is rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of Sauerland.
The start and finish of the approximately 6.5 km main route is the St. Johannes Ev. parish church.
