Arboretum Eberbach

Experience the arboretum - the realm of trees. The city of Eberbach, the forestry office, and the Neckartal-Odenwald Nature Park invite you to discover the variety of trees and shrubs from all over the world. The term "arboretum" is derived from the Latin word "arbor." This means in German: "the tree." An arboretum is a "tree garden" or "tree park." The Eberbach arboretum is relatively small, with just over 4 hectares. This means there is no room for all types of woody plants in the world, but it does contain the most important ones. Also, entire populations of the individual species cannot be established, but small groups of a few representative specimens. On the other hand, the small area offers the possibility to observe and compare the different species without having to walk too far. The Eberbach arboretum, which was established in 1995 and is therefore a relatively "young" tree park, is divided into 17 different planting areas. The focus of the plantings so far has been in the areas of Europe, China, Korea, and Japan. Most of the species are present here. The arboretum is located in the north of the city area at the end of Pestalozzi Street. Pestalozzi Street leads to the Steigeschulzentrum in Eberbach-North and past it. At its end, a forest path begins. If you follow it for about 100 meters, you are already in the arboretum.
