There are many "Hautes Routes" in the Swiss mountains. Famous and less famous, one-day and multi-week, difficult and enjoyable. But none offers as much in such a small area as the Weissensteiner Haute Route.
The Weissensteiner Haute Route is an attractive snowshoe or ski tour from Oberdorf in Solothurn over Hasenmatt, Stallflue, and Oberdörferberg to Crémines. Both start and end points are on the Solothurn–Moutier railway line – a circumstance that makes the route across two Jura ridges wonderfully uncomplicated even with public transport. After the first ascent, when the Hasenmatt, the highest point of the canton of Solothurn, is reached (it can also be bypassed), one likes to stop at the "Althüsli" because in bise conditions it can really be harsh here. A piece of cake is just the right refreshment. Then the view from the second observation balcony is sensational: from the Stallflue you can see far over the Mittelland and the Alpine chain. After descending to Subigerberg, the last ascent leads to Oberdörferberg, the gathering point of this route.
