A true treasure chest of Alpine nature, jewel of the Alpe Cimbra. Here the beauty of the landscape combines with the integrity of nature, with the ancient silvo-pastoral activity of the Alpe, with the typical mountain dishes served by Agritur Malga Vallorsara.

The name recalls the presence of bears, now a thing of the past. However, it tells us that this valley was once wild, frequented by hunters, shepherds and dairy farmers who brought (and still bring) cows here to pasture. The beauty lies in the pastures, coniferous forests and the expansiveness of the landscape that opens from the upper part of the valley hollow. To the north the unmistakable mountain profiles of Cornetto di Folgaria, Bècco di Filadonna and the Dolomite group of Brenta stand out. The excursion reaches its highest point at the so-called Bocca di Val Orsara, a kind of pass that leads to the Coe plateau. During the Great War the first Austro-Hungarian line passed through here.

    Safety information

As you might imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, check the status of the route by contacting the refuge managers on your path, alpine guides, natural park visitor centers and tourist offices.

    Roadbook

After leaving the car in the large parking area at loc. Ortesino (chairlift), we walk about 200 m along the SP dei Fiorentini towards Forte Cherle. After crossing the bridge over the Astico stream, we follow the signs inviting us to climb towards Agritur Vallorsara. After the first two hairpin bends, on a medium slope, we take the road (signposted) that gradually climbs towards the Malga. Shortly we leave the forest cover and find ourselves in the open spaces of the pastures. The Malga is in front of us, just above. We reach it, we can take advantage of a break for refreshment, after which we continue uphill until we reach the saddle of Bocca Val Orsara where we intersect the trail that from Passo Coe climbs the Pioverna hill. From the saddle we turn back. In front of us opens the wide panorama of the valley and, on the horizon, the unmistakable profile of the Brenta Group and the Bècco di Filadonna. Care is needed here: before reaching the Malga, follow the summer trail signs (No. 24 - VAL ORSARA LOOP), descend into the valley hollow and by trail that goes into the woods we reach locality Palazzo from where we return, by comfortable road, to the starting point.
