Tips and suggestions
Are you looking for snowshoe hiking route tips in the region as well as a certified guide for a guided snowshoe hike? You can find this and many more infos at - Route tips and provider information
Refreshment options:
In the town center of Hermagor, as well as in the surrounding villages (Micheldorf, Egg...), there are numerous year-round open refreshment options – details at Service A-Z.
On some winter days there is also a refreshment option at "Gasthaus zum Rudi" (directly on the Egger Alm).
Roadbook
Starting directly from the Garnitzenklamm parking lot, the route leads upwards through numerous bends of the (groomed) road through the forest.
Depending on the snow conditions and with regard to wildlife (dusk etc.), some pathless shortcuts (mostly along the summer trail) through the forest are also possible across some very wide bends (see the track of the ski tour ST_N6 - in the area from Garnitzenklamm to Egger Alm).
Both the more direct ascent option via the road and the route option via shortcuts ultimately lead you to the wide, flat areas of the Egger Alm.
Return/descent:
The indicated time covers "only" the ascent time, not the descent (the return path follows the same route as the ascent – along the road).
