The Kreuzbergpass marks the border between South Tyrol and Veneto. A gentle hillside terrace stretches from the pass summit to the flanks of the main ridge of the Carnic Alps, forming an ideal alpine pasture area. The popular Nemesalp hut on the South Tyrolean side and the somewhat quieter Malga Coltrondo in the Italian Veneto are also run in winter and pamper their guests with a delightful mix of South Tyrolean and Friulian cuisine. Between the pastures spreads a varied landscape with forests, streams, raised bogs, and a small summit, a diverse playground with the rocky peaks of the Sexten Dolomites as an alpine backdrop.
At the Kreuzbergpass parking lot begins the alpine road planned as a hiking trail, on which we can ascend directly to Nemesalpe. However, we only follow it for a few minutes and shortly after a chapel at the sign "Biotope Seikofel-Nemesalpe," we turn left. Following the summer trail, shortening a wide road bend, we hike uphill through the winter forest, meet the road again and follow it through forest and beautiful clearings to Hochmoos; we disregard the two turnoffs to Malga Coltrondo. The direct route to Nemesalpe leads over wooden boardwalks through Hochmoos (approx. 20 min), but we turn left at the southern edge of Hochmoos, 1802 m, and hike over a wooded ridge up to Seikofel. At the summit, a bench invites you to enjoy the splendid view of the Sexten Dolomites and the Carnic main ridge. We cross the summit and descend via the northwest ridge to Kaltenbrunn, where we meet a forest road that we follow north. At a crossroads, 1756 m, we meet a wide hiking trail again. To the left,
