Snowshoe hike in the Eisack Valley below the Villnöss Geisler peaks.
From Ranuihof above St. Magdalena in Villnöss – in winter the destination of a toboggan run – first take trail no. 28, reserved for winter hikers, in the direction of Brogles-Alm. Leave the prepared trail at a bridge (sign: Broglesalm), which crosses the Brogleser Bach stream. The trail continues at first gently, then increasingly steeply through the winter forest up to around 1900 metres. There the forest thins out and the Geisler peaks appear in all their glory (in fine weather). At the junction with the Adolf Munkel Trail (no. 35), continue left along the trail, which is often marked by tracks of ski tourers and snowshoe hikers, to the Gschnagenhardt Alp, which is closed in winter. A few hundred metres further on is the Geisler Alm, which is also open in winter (Thursdays to Mondays, continuous during school holidays). There you can either hire a toboggan and sledge comfortably down to the valley, or first hike along the toboggan run on snowshoes in the direction of the Zanser Alm
