Circular route under the Hirzer
Via the Gompmalm to the Hirzer hut at the entrance of the Passeier valley
Just before the hamlet of Prenn (access from Saltaus towards Tall), the narrow road no. 4 branches off to the left to the Gompmalm. Since it is mostly icy and there are only a few parking options at the last farm, the Hochwies inn, the vehicle is parked on the roadside before the junction and you initially walk with snowshoes on your backpack for 20 minutes to the inn. There is the end of a sledding run that starts at the Gompmalm. Along the sledding run, which is hardly used especially in the mornings—and with good snow conditions also sometimes with shortcuts through the forest—it goes quite leisurely up to the alpine pasture. Path no. 5 starts directly at the hut and then leads almost as wide and gently up to the Hirzer hut at almost 2,000 m. It invites you to linger and take photos before heading southwest on path no. 40 to Klammeben, where the top station of the Hirzer cable car is located. Further in the same direction, path no. 40 leads to the Stafell alpine pasture.
