The expansive plateau of the Lüsner Alm, with its gently rolling peaks, offers snowshoers an ideal playground with magnificent views: to the south toward the Dolomites, and to the north toward the Zillertal Alps. The peaks on the Lüsner Alm can be combined in any way you like; the open and relatively gentle terrain offers unexpected possibilities for both leisurely hikers and those in top physical condition. For example, from Campill (or Gampill), we can continue on to both the Astjoch and the Glitter Joch. Caution is advised when choosing descent routes, as there are steep slopes on the Lüsner Alm that are not always avalanche-safe.
From the parking lot, we first head up to the Campillwiesen, either on the signed toboggan trail or on the hiking trail marked with a “2.” To do this, we walk from the parking lot along the edge of the forest across open meadows, then through the woods, crossing the toboggan trail several times as we head straight uphill. We pass the unplowed Schwaiger Böden parking lot at at 1,720 m, turn right off the toboggan run shortly after the parking lot, and reach a fence at the tree line after about 10 minutes. The trail continues straight ahead across open slopes to the Koch-Campill Alm and the summit. For our loop hike, however, we follow the toboggan run along the fence to the right and, at the hairpin turn, continue straight ahead to the east on a barely visible alpine road. The trail climbs only slightly, and we hike leisurely past small wooden huts to the Genaideralm, 1,947 m.
