In winter, you can enjoy this route calmly. With little snow as in 2020, there are no skiers around. The route offers very beautiful views of Spitzstein and Klausenberg. The route can easily be extended. A detour to Feichteck or Karkopf is possible. It is also possible to hike to Hochries and stop there for refreshments. Whether Wagneralm is open in winter is not certain. Feichteckalm is closed in winter. On this winter route, packed lunch and tea are recommended. In summer, this route is very crowded and many mountain bikers are also on it.

    Safety information

In winter, snowshoe hikers should also carry: avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe. Also, always read the avalanche report.

    Tips and suggestions

There are several options to extend the route and climb various summits.

    Roadbook

From the Gammern forest car park, take the flat path to the right heading towards Heuberg, Kasalm, Wagneralm. At the first fork, follow the path to the left towards Wagneralm, Kasalm. At the Kranzhorn/Feichteck fork, continue towards Feichteck. Follow the path. After the forest, it gently goes downhill on the clearing and then slightly uphill. Shortly before the next wooded area, it goes steeper uphill again. At the next fork, follow the path to the right towards Feichtecksattel. At the saddle, follow the very narrow path down. In winter, this is not easy to find if there are no tracks. From here, always follow the downhill path keeping to the left until you reach the main path to Wagneralm. Here, hike downhill to the right until you get back to the Gammern forest car park.
