The pass road from Oberdorf over the Weissenstein becomes a sledding trail in winter. Rapid descents are guaranteed. From Hotel Weissenstein or the top station of the Weissenstein cable car, the sledding slope runs to the middle station Nesselboden and, if there is enough snow, further down to the valley station Oberdorf. It is considered a classic among Swiss sledding slopes. The 4.5-kilometer long trail is very fast and winding; so during this challenging ride, which also offers a magnificent view, you can expect considerable speed.
As a more relaxed alternative, the sledding route from Weissenstein to Gänsbrunnen is recommended. After this sledding descent, you take the train from Gänsbrunnen through the Weissenstein tunnel back to Oberdorf to the valley station of the Weissenstein cable car.
Those who want to stretch their legs a bit before sledding on Weissenstein are advised to take the short winter hike from the cable car top station to the mountain restaurant Hinterweissenstein (about one hour round trip).

Public transport
Public-transport-friendly
By train via Solothurn or Moutier to Oberdorf station/valley station of the Weissenstein cable car, then by gondola to the Weissenstein.
In winter, Weissenstein is only accessible by gondola. The gondola takes you up to the Solothurn local mountain in just 10 minutes. During the ride in the panorama gondolas, you can enjoy the unique view of the Swiss Midlands and the Alps. The Oberdorf valley station is very well connected by public transport (hourly train connections from Moutier and Solothurn are guaranteed), and a bus line also connects the community of Oberdorf with Solothurn.
