    Author’s recommendation

A detour to the idyllic Blausee is a must on sunny winter days, as well as a good piece of cake at the Gasthaus Siggen.

    Safety information

For safe tobogganing fun, we recommend wearing a helmet as well as good shoes and gloves.

    Tips and suggestions

    Toboggan Rules

Please hold and wait only in the designated waiting zones, never in the curve areas.

Cross the toboggan run only at clearly visible sections.

When the toboggan run is heavily frequented, pronounced wave formation can occur on the track; please adapt your speed to the toboggan run conditions.

Always hold your toboggan by the loop to avoid unnecessary endangering of your fellow tobogganers and loss of the toboggan.

To properly enjoy the ride, appropriate clothing is necessary. We especially recommend ski goggles, scarf, hat, ski pants or gaiters, gloves, sturdy boots – no ski boots. Children up to and including 6 years old should ride on their parents’ toboggan! Tip: tobogganing with a helmet is even safer!

Be considerate of other toboggan run users. Behave so that no one else is endangered or harmed.

Alcohol impairs your driving behavior. Addictive substances reduce reaction ability and proper hazard assessment.

Tobogganing on ski slopes is dangerous and prohibited.

    Observe closures and warning signs.

If you need current information about tobogganing (closures, opening times, etc.), please call our toboggan hotline. The telephone number is: +43 6565 39800

    Helmet requirement in Austria:

Minors up to their 15th birthday must wear a commercially available winter sports helmet when skiing and tobogganing as part of winter sports.

Guardians and supervisors are responsible within their possibilities for compliance with this obligation.

Head protection must also be worn when riding other winter sports equipment such as ski bobs or tobogganing on prepared slopes.

The helmet requirement applies in the state of Salzburg.

The law does not provide for checks of the helmet requirement by the authorities. There is also no penalty for guardians if the child does not wear a helmet. It is only meant to raise awareness of how dangerous skiing or snowboarding without a helmet can be for children.

However, violating the helmet requirement could cause problems with insurance in the event of an accident, which might refuse to cover the accident costs.

It is definitely advisable to equip children, adolescents, and yourself as an adult with a helmet (can also be rented at all ski rental shops or ski schools – as long as stock lasts), as most ski accidents result in serious head injuries. Wearing a helmet can reduce the risk of serious head injury.
