    The first part of the ascent is well frequented by many Sonntagshorn walkers. A short piece of the forest trail will only concern you on the descent. Afterwards it becomes freer and stays that way. From the separation from the Sonntagshorn route, it becomes suddenly quiet. Gently ascending, it goes to the hollow that runs down from Reifelberg and Vorderlahnerkopf; becoming steeper you climb up to the summit of Vorderlahnerkopf, from where there is a wonderful panoramic view. The descent can be boldly done down far on open areas. After the rather unpleasant forest path section, the remaining meters consist of relaxing skiing out.

    Author’s recommendation

    No dining options on the described route, unless you accept the detour to Hochalm; otherwise, after the tour, there are inns in Heutal or Unken.

    Safety information

    Recommended only in good visibility due to the steepening south-facing ascent.

    Tips and suggestions

    The route description is deliberately kept rough; it is assumed that a corresponding map is available and tour planning is carried out. The GPS track can deviate somewhat from the described route in certain areas.

    Roadbook

    Route description is rough, GPS track may deviate slightly locally!

    Parking lot Heutalbauer (1000) – direction NNE beside the road – some houses are left on the left – do not cross the stream at the bridge (instead follow the signpost towards Sonntagshorn, Rosskarsattel – path 19) – before the first huts of Hochalm, turn left (away from the Sonntagshorn route) – continue always left along the edge of the forest into the wide hollow of the Reifelberge – upwards in the hollow – to Vorderlahnerkopf (left to Reifelberg) keep right and depending on conditions to the summit;

    Descent in the hollow and further on the open area up to the ascent route – a short unpleasant stretch on the forest path – ski slope-like to the parking lot.
