Val Setus is a steep, famous gully in the Sellastock. Most people cross over the entire Sellastock from Sass Pordoi. The described route avoids lift support and starts from the Grödnerjoch. Via a neighboring gully, Val Culea, you reach the terrace of the Pisciadù Hut, from which Val Setus begins. After the 45-degree steep descent, there is a short climb back to the Grödner Joch.
Author’s recommendation
We did the route on March 16, 2014. However, you can also catch Val Setus in powder snow under safe conditions.

Safe skiing in 45-degree steep terrain absolutely required. Additionally, avalanche and snow conditions must be suitable!Tips and suggestions
More information about the routes in the Gröden Valley can be found in Ski Touring Magazine 3.14 at www.skitour-magazin.deRoadbook
Park at the Grödnerjoch, follow the increasingly steep ridge to the Sellastock and cross under the rock faces over to Val Culea. In countless hairpin turns, you aim at the narrow bottleneck leading to the terrace of the Pisciadù Hut. From the right, a frozen waterfall enters in the upper section. The bottleneck steepens to about 40 degrees just before the exit. At the top, you reach a flat ledge, which you cross to the left under the rocks. After a few minutes, you can already see the funnel descending into Val Setus. The entry, at 45 degrees, is the steepest and narrowest part of the gully. Below, the gully gradually flattens out, offering good opportunities for recovery and wide turns. Once you reach the end of the wide gully, you have two options: either skin up and traverse back to the Grödner Joch or ski down to the piste and ascend along it to the Grödner Joch.

Equipment
Normal ski touring equipment. In hard, icy conditions (especially in spring), definitely take crampons and/or ice screws.Localization
