Svištový Štít (2,383 m) - past the robber hut to the marmot peak
Due to often prevailing very low temperatures, the Velká Studená Dolina is also often aptly translated as large, cold valley. On the left and right in the steep rocks of the valley, there are numerous ice falls that are frequented by local climbers. If you have a good eye, you can spot the brave climbers and admire them during the ascent. In the upper part of the Velká Studená Dolina is the all-year-round open Zbojnícka Chata, which is very well managed and thus recommended for warming up with a traditional cabbage or garlic soup. In the valley, Svištový Štít is the flagship ski mountain and it is located in the center of the High Tatras. Since the entire mountain range can be viewed from the summit, you should not miss this view!
According to the Swiss ski touring scale, the tour has a difficulty level of somewhat difficult - WS from 30 degrees.
Further attractive ski touring destinations in Europe are summarized in the book Adventure Ski Touring.

Roadbook
Ascent: It starts from Starý Smokovec either by the funicular, which runs every half hour, or west (left) of the tracks on a toboggan run to Hrebienok (1,285 m). Now beyond the houses on a very well-trodden summer path slightly downhill in a northerly direction into the Velká Studená Dolina. At the fork, take the blue-marked path northwestward, ascending gently further into the valley. You reach the Zbojnicka Chata (1,960 m) by leaving the valley floor to the west (left) at about 1,750 m and overcoming a terrain step. From the hut, continue up the now narrow valley gently to the west (left). The broad summit slope is best overcome by ascending the ridge to the east (right) and reaching the Svištový Štít over it. Mountain greetings!
Descent: If conditions are good, you can of course ski directly down the 35-degree steep summit slope. The further descent then follows the ascent route. In the lower third, where the forest is very dense, there is a track for departing ski mountaineers just north (left) below the path. The slight uphill sections to Hrebienok can be easily overcome by skating.
Variants: Just after the summit slope, slightly down the valley to the west is the cirque to Sedlo Prielom (col, 2,290 m). This is a nice ski touring destination even if you do not want to use the passage.
Another destination above the Zbojnicka Chata with a very beautiful and demanding slope is the Puste Hreben (2,250 m). You reach this ridge by going briefly downhill northwest from the hut and then continuing gently ascending to the Puste Pleso (lake). Always heading northwest, you go up the beautiful 40-degree steep slope to the snow corniced ridge, where the ski touring destination is located at a rock block.
The fun of the descent from the hut can be significantly increased if you ascend to the Priečne Sedlo (col, 2,352 m), which is also the passage to the Malá Stundená Dolina. To do this, from the Zbojnicka Chata first go level in a northerly direction to the stream bed, where you then turn west (right) and traverse upwards along the slope. Passing a lake to the south (right), overcome a step and then traverse again until just below the distinctive col. The last 200 m of elevation to the pass steepen to about 40 degrees. Especially if you want to ski out again into the Velká Studená Dolina and also in uncertain avalanche situations, you can do without this. In any case, now ski down the beautiful slopes southwards (right) to the valley floor and out along the known summer path from the ascent.
