The Steingässler is not a prominent peak but can score with a clear view of the Spitzmeilen area and the Rhine Valley. To the southeast, the view is limited by the impressive and imposing west face of the Hochfinsler, giving the summit break a high alpine character. The peak is often climbed as a half-day route with cable car support from Schönhalden. The route described here from Parmort is longer but free of traverses and offers a descent without uphill sections over wide, gently sloping alpine meadows. Those seeking an alternative to the neighboring classic route Hüenerchopf will find a less known tour destination with similar difficulty in Steingässler.
