Safety information
The east flank of Hocharn is already in the sun early in spring. Don't start too late!Roadbook
Ascent to Sonnblick: From the parking lot to the Naturfreundehaus and directly behind it, quite unpleasantly in steep switchbacks by the Barbarafall through the forest upwards. Above the steep section, the terrain becomes gentler again and you ascend to Neubau. From there, somewhat flatter in a bowl to the Knappenhaus. From there, steeper southwestwards to the small Rojacher hut. Now follows a challenging traverse and another steep section up to a rock step. Here, possibly take off skis and stow them on your backpack. Briefly steep up to the summit ridge and the last section flat again to the already visible Zittelhaus.
Descent to Zirmsee (2,460 m): Wonderful descent over the wide slopes of the Kleinfließkees to the Zirmsee. There you skin up again and ascend to Hocharn. Another 800 meters of elevation have to be overcome here.
Ascent to Hocharn: First flat along the shore of the Zirmsee in a wide left bend over a short steep section, then in a wide right bend to a narrow ridge crossing north of the Goldzechschate. From here, the last 250 meters of elevation over the wide summit slope to the highest point of Hocharn.
Descent Hocharn: The wonderfully wide east flank of Hocharn descends a full 1,700 meters back to Kolm Saigurn.
