Similaun

Starting point is the mountain inn Vorderkaser Jägerrast (1693 m). From the parking lot at the mountain inn, the Graftal valley branches off to the left. Follow the marked path uphill on the right side of the brook. Pass a stable (1892 m) and cross open terrain uphill until a small alpine pasture (1960 m) is visible on the upper right. Now there are two options to overcome the steep valley end: To the right of the main stream, follow the valley all the way to the narrow gorge (passing a water catchment). Then steeply left up over block terrain without skis on the right edge straight about 80 m up into a hollow with sparse trees. This hollow leads diagonally left up into a flat valley that slopes diagonally right. Near a small saddle (2460 m), crossing almost horizontally steep slopes to the right, you reach the flat ground at the upper end of the gorge. At the level of the small alpine pasture (1960 m), go left over a bridge and straight up a very steep slope – mostly avalanche
