Crossing from Franz Senn Hut to Amberger Hut via the Wildgratscharte.

Additionally with the summit tour to the Schrandele via the south-east ridge.

    Author’s recommendation

The Schrankogel or the Schrankarkogel can also be done instead of the Schrandele.

If time and fitness allow, a descent over the 40-degree steep Schwarzenbergjoch is worthwhile, provided snow conditions permit it and the detour is accepted.

    Safety information

Even though the notch is secured with a steel cable, it must not be underestimated as a via ferrata.

    Roadbook

From the Franz Senn Hut, it goes into the Alpeiner Valley, upstream. Upon reaching the Alpeiner Glacier, which is the last steep ascent before entering the glacier, you aim between the southern and eastern Wildgratspitze over the left flank to the Wildgratscharte. From afar you can already see the red marking which is an arrow. In summer, the trail also leads up here with steel cable protection.

However, in snow, the ascent in the gully is recommended.

The descent over the Wildgratscharte to the Schwarzenbergferner is secured with a steel cable.

At the Schwarzenbergferner, the path goes along the glacier to the right to climb the Schrandele via the south-east ridge. Upon reaching the foot, you look for a good spot for the ski depot because further progress is only possible with ridge climbing. It is recommended to reach the ridge on the right side here and use it up to the summit.

On the ridge, cairns partly help and it is usually easier to pass on the left than on the right if the path is difficult to find.

Descent follows the ascent path after the summit back to the depot.

The descent into the valley goes over the Schwarzenbergferner to the Amberger Hut and then continues on the toboggan run.

Herzlichen Dank! E-mail: antonleiter@yahoo.de
