From the mountain station of the Dachstein cable car at Hunerkogel, descent on the prepared slopes over the Schladminger Glacier, and with small ascents further along the marker poles in an eastern direction, north around the Gr. Koppenkarstein in a curve into the Koppenkar (approx. 30 min.).

Now the skins are put on, heading south over a steep slope, short descent to a signpost, and over the summit slope to the ski depot at the start of the via ferrata. A wire rope leads to the left onto the ridge, above it to the mighty summit cross.

Descent from the ski depot in an eastern direction, and another short ascent to the Gruberscharte. Now over steep slopes into the Gruberkar to the Feistererhof.
