The Säuleck is considered one of the easiest 3000-meter peaks in the Hohe Tauern. Although "easy" is relative: the mountain is technically not difficult in summer, but the elevation gain of over 1,600 meters presents significant demands on fitness. This is even more true in winter since the hospitable Arthur-von-Schmidhaus at the Dösener See is not open in winter. The Säuleck is a magnificent, high alpine, but also very long ski route. Tips and suggestions

    Respect your limits -
5 rules for responsible snowshoeing or ski touring:

    • Where available, stay on marked routes; pay close attention to information boards as well as protected, conservation and restricted areas
    • Respect wildlife: avoid feeding sites and immediately and calmly withdraw if you spot any animal
    • Avoid young tree plantations (under 3 meters), ski edges can cause significant damage to trees
    • Do not leave any waste behind
    • Avoid noise

    Roadbook

From the starting point, gently ascending along the forest road to the Konradhütte. Now in the area of the summer path, partly somewhat strenuous, over the steep section to the Dösener Alm. Then gently ascending again towards the Arthur-von-Schmidhaus. The summer path to the Säuleck continues from here on the north side of the Dösener See. In winter, it is usually better to ascend south of the lake up to below the Mallnitzer Scharte. From here, very steep until directly to the summit.

Descent in the area of the ascent track.
